(885 posts)But if you look at it from the military point of view it's about a set of values and principles that guide soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines, and guardians towards a common goal. According to the Army, Warrior Ethos is:
I will always place the mission first.
I will never accept defeat.
I will never quit.
I will never leave a fallen comrade.

In the Air Force and Space Force, it's:
Understand the Profession of Arms
Exemplify Discipline
Demonstrate Moral Character
Demonstrate Courage
Exhibit Resiliency

The other branches of the military have similar ethos.
Why Hegseth is calling all the flag officers together is anyone's guess but most likely to explain his view of what Warrior's Ethos is. It would make more sense if the ethos is developed by the professional military leaders of each of the branches of the military.

In Service to our Nation
With Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty
We protect
We defend
We save
We are Semper Paratus
We are the United States Coast Guard
-- Core Values --
Honor
Integrity is our standard. We demonstrate uncompromising ethical conduct and moral behavior in all of our personal and organizational actions. We are loyal and accountable to the public trust.
Respect
We value our diverse workforce. We treat each other and those we serve with fairness, dignity, respect, and compassion. We encourage individual opportunity and growth. We encourage creativity through empowerment. We work as a team.
Devotion to Duty
We are professionals, military and civilian, who seek responsibility, accept accountability, and are committed to the successful achievement of our organizational goals. We exist to serve. We serve with pride.

(14,659 posts)Who actually lost more wars than they won, were known more as meat-grinder fighters who lost a lot of men when they won - more than than any other city-state was willing to lose.
Spartans also weren't typically able to hold land they won in battle, often losing it to the "heliot revolts" - heliots being the Spartan slave class that were more often former citizens of the land Sparta was able to win.
Spartan citizens were exclusionary and constantly outnumbered by noncitizens in their own state. And that kept them from actually having a thriving economy that didn't require them to hire themselves out as a mercenary army to the other city-states.
Good, disciplined fighters, sure. Smart leadership and good governance? Nope.

(885 posts)and neither could pass the U.S. recruiting standards due to low IQ, among other things. Even with the lowering of recruiting standards they'd still be military rejects just like the are in civilian life.

(246 posts)Popular among young men who have failed to grasp the basic concepts of responsibility, maturity and understanding of how to manage their emotions and treating others with respect , compassion and humanity. It is often brought on by long periods of obsessive doom scrolling on social media and losing themselves in endless battles of Call of Duty or other violent video games.
people like Kirk knew / know how to easily manipulate a huge group of young white men who simply cannot handle not being the center of the universe
