(8,902 posts)And not just Bibi. Previous Israeli governments, too.
Why?
To tell Bush to immediately call his Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, and tell her to abstain on a United Nations resolution on Gaza - that Rice helped draft. Israel opposed the resolution.
Bush called Rice and told her to abstain. It passed 14 to 0, with the United States the only nation abstaining.

America, on the other hand, is the hottest country anywhere in the world, and there is no other country even close, he said, in what was not a climate change reference.

(123 posts)Poking that particular bear could have serious repercussions. (They did laugh in his face, though, and that felt good.)
Israels power is regional and largely dependent on support from other nations (the U.S., specifically). The risk to expressing disapproval of Netanyahu is far less and somewhat diffuse.
Acknowledge that and Still protest the so called leadership.
It was simply an explanation, not an excuse.

And, I am guessing a far greater number of deaths, that were just NOT recorded, or listed as some other cause of death, rather than covid.....It was well known that Abbott in Texas, and DeSatan in Florida were not taking part in record keeping to make their bestest buddy not look so bad......

(41,579 posts)From a Guardian article:
I immediately thought to myself, Wow, first the escalator event, and now a bad teleprompter. What kind of a place is this? Trump wrote. Adding insult to injury, he recounted a third alleged offense. After being forced to improvise part of his speech to the general assembly, he asked his wife how he had done, and she replied: I couldnt hear a word you said.
OTOH:
However, it seemed unlikely that the audio problem was as bad as Trump made it out to be. Video showed the audience reacting immediately to what Trump was saying, including chuckling when the president declared with a hint of self-pity: These are the two things I got from the United Nations, a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter.

Now he's threatening conspiracy to humiliate him. If everyone had walked out, some people might think he'd genuinely been sabotaged.

(12,949 posts)I really do not understand what world leaders are waiting for in not ceasing all trade with Israel and levying severe economic sanctions on them. The IDF is now bombing more parts of Gaza to level all buildings, clearly preparing for Israeli settlers to steal the land, in addition to continuing to murder innocent Palestinians and trying to prevent any international aid group to feed them.

(8,902 posts)I used to be a backer of Israel. But over time, less and less so.
First, it was to not trust them.
That became a dislike. A stronger dislike as time passed.
And now it's akin to hating Israel.
Not the Israeli's. The actions of their government and the Likud - in their name.

(570 posts)Putin, if he sets foot in many countries, will immediately be arrested and sent to the Hague for international war crimes against humanity........
I can only imagine it is the same for genocidal, mass murderer, Netanyahu......
If they walked out on Netanyahu, I am surprised that they didn't RUN out when Mr. Poopy Pants stood to talk..........

(520 posts)There is a controversial Charlie Kirk video in which he questions the circumstances of the Oct. 6th Hamas attack. He explains that he'd been to Israel and what he saw was the border with Gaza guarded by armed guards literally every 20 feet, so how could a surprise attack occur? He implies that Israel allowed the invasion so that they'd have a solid reason to exterminate the Palestinians, which is basically what is happening now as they refuse a cease fire agreement.
