This is what patriotism and true egoless leadership looks like. Thanks for your service, Rep. Nadler. www.nytimes.com/2025/09/01/n...

Jerry Nadler ends his remarkable career, conceding that his brand of politics on the Middle East is over. âI donât know what to say at this point,â he said. âI canât defend what Israel is doing.â

(6,397 posts)of meeting and working with Rep. Nadler when our small apartment building was trying to get rid of tenants to turn into a condo at the height of apartments doing this. He was our Rep. and he met with us numerous times, gave us plans of action and much advice. He was a terrific man then and Im glad to see he is staying true to that.

(3,199 posts)I'll always remember this moment at the closing of one of the impeachment proceedings. Which one? Who can keep track?
Nadler appears to rush ahead of Schiff to offer closing remarks on need for witnesses

(2,811 posts)Schiff was calling softly - Jerry...Jerry. But Nadler barreled forward.
Nadler stole Schiff's closing statement. Jerry must have been peeved that he was not the lead on the impeachment team. I lost interest in him afterward. It tarnished his years of service, IMHO.
I was yelling at the tv.

(1,445 posts)and about 60 in the House. It seems to me that in a country of 330,000,000 people, there must be some younger people who are well qualified, and have the energy to pursue their service vigorously, at the level the moment demands.
Seriously, I have to believe the optimal age to enter the House or Senate is somewhere between 40 and 50 years. That gives a person enough time to learn how the system works and to bring enough life wisdom to the job.
I know there are good arguments against term limits, but it seems to me that there is so much money swirling around DC that a 20-year Senate or House veteran who isn't deeply on the take is the exception rather than the rule. (Note that I am not accusing anybody of anything criminal because bribery is now 100% legal in DC. And these comments have nothing to do with Nadler. I'm just saying that when big companies and industries give you lots of money every year, there is a huge temptation to do nice things for them legislatively.)

(11,056 posts)One of the best. A true patriot. It's not possible for me to respect him more. Not one of my Congress persons but I would have been honored.
Thank you for your service and the honor and respect and manner in which you held office.
