On occasion he cleans the bathroom.😉

(4,310 posts)I don't like the way he folds, but I know when to keep my mouth shut.
He helps with the dishes, does garbage/recycling duty, supermarket shopping (I also try to keep it to myself when he buys the wrong stuff).
He will not clean up cat vomit and only cleans the litter box if I've just had surgery or down with the flu or covid.
Mine does all those things too.
I just didn't want to sound like I was bragging too much. 😉
We both work but I have been spending most of my off time caring for my son while he is fighting ACC cancer.
I'm very grateful for my husband's support.

(4,310 posts)do the laundry. It's a trauma response I think.
He started doing it when I had a near fatal heart attack and just won't give it up.
I do paperwork, project planning and oversight, fighting with the local government, cleaning places no one ever thinks of, organizing, entertaining, fashion consultant for him - Cooking, meal planning.....gardening
We share the total load rather fairly.
I did raise our 4 kids almost on my own - no grandparent around.
He had his own retail business, so when they were growing up we rarely saw him. Worked most evenings, on Saturdays -
We didn't see him from November till mid January because of the holiday season.
Retirement is sweet.

We haven't heard them since, except from Andrew Dice Clay, wo was about as much an asshole as you'd ever find.
Throughout history, a lot of humor has been based in bigotry of some form, o imitations of bigotry, and excused with "It's just a joke," often followed with something like "Lighten up, Francis" or "You're just too sensitive."
Yeah -- I'm sensitive about gross generalizationd about any group of people for the sake of "humor." If you're a liberal/progressive, you should be, too.

The left has a misandry problem. Its the primary reason young men dont show up for us on Election Day.

(56,633 posts)It must be terrible earning 68 cents on the dollar, having the Supreme Court take away your basic rights and criminalize your bodies. Then there is the sexual assault that the other sex engages in with a 1% conviction rate. However do you make it through the day?

if we won elections.
There are potential voters who should be showing up with us, and could be our allies, but arent.
Ive noticed that they are the same people that face regular hostility from a small but very active group of highly prejudiced keyboard warriors.
They are held responsible for privileges enjoyed by their grandfathers and blamed for crimes committed by people who look like them.
Its really not surprising to me that weve now lost twice to the worst presidential candidate in American history. We suck at politics.

but that women occasionally make jokes that bruise the male ego. You apparently think the role of women is to ensure that men are never offended or made to feel sad.
Meanwhile, women are referred to as sluts, skanks, whores, bitches with great regularity, but we are told it's okay as long as the women belongs to the opposing party. The English language doesn't even have equivalent words to degrade men, but you think misandry is a great problem plaguing our party.
Trump is able to appeal to the aggrieved white male because MAGA's fundamental ideology is that everyone else is and should be treated as inferior to white men. They don't want equality. They want supremacy, and that is what you want us to indulge. They are pissed off because they have to compete for jobs on merit--that they are no longer guaranteed a high income purely through an accident of birth. Also, some young men in particular are pissed off because they think they are entitled to access to the most beautiful and desirable women in society (ordinary women are not considered acceptable), regardless of their own appeal. Is that what you want us to emulate? Should we also support rounding up brown people and firing them from jobs? Do you think they are right to strip women of equal rights? Where exactly do you draw the line? Or is the goal simply to nurture fragile egos by ensuring men are never offended?
Then there is the fact that there are a number of people who think the role of comedy or jokes is to affirm their preexisting beliefs, political views, or egos. Being humorless is an unfortunate state of being that affects the constantly aggrieved party to their own detriment. That you are so outraged by a mild joke speaks is indeed unfortunate. Women are constantly a comedic target, and if I took that personally I'd be a miserable person.
My view is that the social media problem that hurts us is the culture of constant outrage expressed by too many. Now you have chosen to express similar outrage over virtually nothing.

(1,854 posts)Weve been losing important elections. Thats not virtually nothing.
Weve lost the Supreme Court. Thats not virtually nothing.
Weve lost both houses of Congress. Thats not virtually nothing.
In my first post I noted that for the two and a half decades that Ive been reading DU l have learned that posts about men are usually negative toward men. If they dont start off negative theyll almost always turn negative in the response.
This is a pattern, as far as I can tell that holds true across the liberal side of the internet.
This pattern, is itself, misandrist and toxic.
There isnt anyplace on the liberal internet where a young man searching for his political identity wont encounter this pattern.
He will certainly come across phrases like the sexual assault that males engage in as if sexual assault is a common male activity. The vast majority of men are not sexual assaulters. The vast majority of men are not violent. Blaming or implicating men as a group, for crimes committed by a small percentage of men is also misandrist.
And more than that, its really, really, really stupid politics.
We need to learn to use the internet to cultivate allies, not pick stupid fights and chase people away.

(56,633 posts)It is a mild joke about which you are outraged. That is it. The rest of your argument is taking advantage of that joke to dump all over women, who you obviously think owe you a great deal. Your excuses for flipping out over a joke dont interest me.
No men are rapists, yet at least half of all women have been sexually assaulted. Funny how that works.

Are you talking about the rare posts here by feminists?
So we've lost twice because they were WOMEN who ran for president.
If this is what DU has become, I'm out.

(4,146 posts)Since June we have been caring for our infant grandson five days a week. My husband works from home so I use the term we lightly. When my son was born we were just starting a business so my husband was gone from 6am to 7pm through the week. It was the craziest of times for both of us. Flash forward to today and he sees me doing all of the baby things including the smoothing, feeding, changing and getting through the bewitching hours before mom and dad come to pick up the little sweetheart at the end of the day. . The first month my husband apologized to me multiple times a day. He repeatedly asks me if it was this much work when our son was born. 😳 Turns out he was gone so much he didnt have a clue. It has been a real eye opener for both of us. Its nice to be appreciated even if it took forty years in the making. Right now we dont sweat the small stuff! Its all hands on deck!!😁🤣

When my wife's female friends, coworkers and acquaintances find out that I shop, cook, clean, do laundry and property chores and blow dry her heavy head of hair ( once a week which takes about 3 innings of a baseball game. There are no hair salons where we live)
They are very very jealous
