Scientist detained at SFO for over a week, left sleeping in chair

https://www.sfgate.com/travel/article/scientist-detained-sfo-week-20794330.php

The Trump administration’s immigration crackdown appears to have kept a Texas scientist who was born in Korea locked inside San Francisco International Airport for over a week with little access to basic necessities, according to the man’s attorney.

Tae Heung “Will” Kim, a 40-year-old who has permanent residency in the United States and has lived in the country since he was five, was detained at the airport on July 21 after returning from Korea, according to the Washington Post. Eric Lee, one of Kim’s attorneys, said the man has been denied access to an attorney.

Lee said in a post to X that Kim has been forced to sleep in a chair for more than a week with no access to daylight, and described the situation as “another brutal attack on immigrants & science.” Kim is a PhD candidate at Texas A&M University where he is studying vaccine development, according to the Post.

While Kim’s attorneys have said they have not been told why authorities are holding the man, his case appears to be an example of the Trump administration weaponizing marijuana offenses to increase the amount of people who are deported from the country. One of Trump’s primary campaign promises was to conduct mass deportations of millions of immigrants.

be on the phone constantly with our congressional delegation (and the officials of the university with which he is affiliated). This is so damned insane.

The guy has been in the US since he was 5.

He is a scientist. PhD candidate at a US university.

Meanwhile, Eloon and his ilk import as many quasi-programmers as they can yearly, playing all kinds of games to bring in cheap labor that often isn't very good. (N.B. - sometimes they ARE quite good - it is just that the system lets a lot of chaff in with the wheat.)

This guy knows no other home, has proven himself HERE. What the FUCK sense does it make to treat this person so badly? You want one less immigrant, knock down the H1B quota. But oh no, can't do that, it might upset the tech bros.

Einstein Visas that Trump has usurped for his hospitality workers, domestic workers and grounds keepers at all his his hotels, resorts and golf courses.

Pass ports intended for scientists..............

When Trump was starting in his first occupation of the White House, the FBI raided Bedminster? and found boxes of blank Social Security cards and a mini printing press to print the info on them for his workers. That was the last we heard of that news item. Sure it is true at all of Trump's properties.........

She was a court reporter and stenographer. We were sitting on my back patio and she started crying,..
when she talks about our so-called-justice-system.
"Ive seen rich rapists men get off with community service, while a poor 18 year-old teenager is sent to jail ...3 years for minor stuff...
..like shoplifting 114 dollar coat" I've seen 2 brothers (wealthy family) steal a expensive car....pick up a friend...who had
NO idea what was going on or the car was stolen....Guess who went to jail for one year and one day?
...and the brothers got probation (3 months)
Her tears and her words ripped my Miss Nice to shreds...
Again Thanks

Our border services have the IT to find out who detainees are within minutes--maybe as long as hours hours if there is a hack or a power outage. If they are harassing a scientist who is involved in important work in improving the lives of US citizens, then the only ones who profit from these actions are those who want the USA to lose these beneficial people.

Gee, who could possibly want us to lose these people? Кто может быть? (who could it be?) I'm betting it has to do with someone whose native language is written in the Cyrillic alphabet before the parentheses............
