General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI stand with Corey Booker.
He blew up at fellow democrats on the floor of the senate regarding voting for the passage of a bill that is related to police funding.
This was after Trump said he would dole out the funding to whichever state he deems worthy.
Booker is absolutely right. Democrats should not help the republicans to pass anything whatsoever.
They should jam the senate and house whenever they can. There is no benefit in attempting "bipartisanship " when we are moving towards autocracy dictatorship with congressional Republicans doing everything Trump wants.
To further quote Booker :
Theres a lot of us in this caucus that want to fucking fight, Booker told reporters. And whats bothering me right now is we dont see enough fight in this caucus.
For that he was berated by Klobuchar and Cortez-Masto on how he should have followed process and objected in committee because apparently following process is what's more important.
Hopefully more of our senators open their eyes and realize its no longer business as usual. Democracy is at stake.

(1,163 posts)Unless we have the actual numbers to win, ultimately they win every vote...We can slow it down, but not prevail because of numbers.
It is a simple numbers game, or as Cyrus from the Warriors stated: "...If you can count"

(8,314 posts)Jam the process, make them have to get the votes by themselves. Doing otherwise is an act of surrender.
And they are doing the best they can with what they have and doing a helluva job really...But without 51 votes, it is near impossible to ultimately prevail.

... following "THE PROCESS" should take precedence over the very survival of democracy? Bipartisanship is a fucking joke when you're up against pathological liars who believe it's perfectly acceptable deal from the bottom of the deck as long as it furthers the interests of Der Party.
There's a glib saying about wrestling with a pig: You get dirty, and the pig loves it. At least until you gut him from groin to gizzard before he's able to destroy your country for the benefit of a few dozen greedy oligarchs, each with the moral compass of a rabid hyena.
Here, piggy, piggy; wanna play?
I am SO done with these fuckers. Ya don't make deals with psychopaths that ignore the rules. Tell 'em to bring it, but bring their own body bags, 'cause that's what they're going home in. I'm old, but I still have plenty of fight left in me. These are absolutely irredeemably horrible people! DO NOT knuckle under to these swine. I'd rather die than follow cowards into the killing fields.
On edit: Sorry, but now and then my simmering rage boils over. But I'm still with Corey.
