The longer Trump is the visible head of this monster, the more likely it seems that a resistance (at every level, with every tool available) can become established enough to survive a cancelled election.

But Vance et al could pass as "legitimate" enough to make change well-nigh impossible. They are self-disciplined, young, smart, and entrenched.

Currently we have the sympathies of the decent countries of the world with us -- that could fade with a less outrageous head of state settling in for the long haul.

Much as I would love to see that happen, no matter what comes out about his involvement with Epstein, Trump will never resign. The Republican party may go down in flames in 2026 for their support of a known pedophile, but Trump will cling to power to the bitter end.
