From where it is happening. Helicopters and police everywhere. Local News is saying they think the shooter has shot himself on the 33rd floor of the building he entered.

The building covers a full block, and is more than 40 stories high. Thank goodness he didn't sit at a window on an upper floor and start shooting.

They received numerous 911 calls from the 32nd/33rd floors.

I've been in the building a few times over the years. It's an office building with an assortment of tenants.

Taking the dog out after dark, going to the grocery, walking by a school.

It took a while, but I don’t think of escape routes every time I go anywhere.

Turns out there are gun laws here.

Old man with a little dog, on a walker in the dark. I don’t think about it anymore.

I hate that it’s so weird to feel that.

that's his personal concealed carry permit issued to him by Las Vegas Metro.

edited to add: You can open carry in Las Vegas but you need a permit to carry concealed.
