My husband shared a table with a Brit local

Last edited Sun Jul 27, 2025, 05:04 PM - Edit history (3)

today in Norfolk.

The Brit asked my husband about our trip, how long, etc, and my husband said we'd self-deported from the US. We don't know when we'll go back.

That comment led to Trump.

The Brit had been an editor of the WSJ for over 30 years. He said 1) the WSJ doesn't have an algorithm favorable to Trump 2) Trump is in it up to his neck with Epstein so is in real trouble, particularly if he keeps antagonizing Murdock and 3) as Murdock has aged, he's become more impatient, has much less tolerance for stupidity, and is easier to anger. He's less predictable. So Rupert will not play with Trump over Trump's lawsuit.

This Brit also said, once Trump has lost Murdock, what's he got?

He also thought Americans were very ignorant to have voted for Trump since it was clear what they were voting for from the first term.

But they obviously have an algorithm favorable to conservative market ideology, anything supporting big business and Republicans in general.

Rupert Murdoch has reportedly turned over much of the nuts and bolts running of the maega corporation to his favored son Lachlan, who reportedly has politics as poisonous as the ol;d man's.

Rupert might be taking this personally, as in "I made him and look at what he's done." However, it's Lachlan who will have to do the job of tearing the Lard and Savior down to his nasty clay feet standing in a pile of shit.

We don't know if Laclan is up for that or will simply go through some of the motions to please his old man. Except for his politics, he's kind of an unknown quantity.

Neither did JD.

But your point is well taken. My husband's impression was that the Brit thought Trump was playing with fire. He thinks he can predict Murdock, but he can't.

My 2 cents is, now that Murdock is 94, with a lawsuit from Trump and another from Newsom, this isn't how he's going to want to go out.
