Surrounding bounty hunter operations, blockading national guard convoys from the fields, following and calling out kidnappers across the state. Social media and local news are packed with stories. It is heartwarming to see this courage in community spirit. All races of our state working together against this violent fascist incursion. WOW.

Bounties was placed on runaway slaves during slavery time in the good ole USA.
Preferably caught live but if killed - oh well, next.
Many Whites, Native Indians, and Blacks help the slaves to escape. The underground movement was real.
The underground is back along with judicial, professional of all walks of life, and we the people.

Also, small town news from Central Valley news newspapers, Visalia, Oxnard, like that.
Ive also gotten some good updates from the Orange County Voice; local LA news is more likely to cover these attacks on their websites than on airchannels 5, 9, 11 not on networks.

(98,699 posts)They are being federally charged with assault for trying to stop this thug-invasion of the surgery center. Be very, very careful of what you advise others to do, unless you try it yourself.
Beyond that, in Ventura County where I live, ICE has repeatedly raided fields for agricultural workers. This latest one involved one death, the arrest of a disabled US veteran who was a security guard at the legal cannabis greenhouses (he was trying to park his truck; ICE smashed the drivers side window and dragged him through it) and the arrest of a professor from Cal State University Channel Islands, aka Cal Sushi. Again, I believe the charge was assault it seems that is the standard these days.
Feds charge SoCal medical workers with interfering in ICE raid

Two staff members from an Ontario surgery center have been charged with allegedly interfering with U.S. immigration officers trying to detain landscapers who ran into the center to escape.
Jose de Jesus Ortega, a 38-year-old Highland resident, was arrested Friday morning and is expected to appear in U.S. District Court in Riverside, according to a U.S. attorneys office Central District of California news release.
Officials are still looking for the other suspect, Danielle Nadine Davila, 33, of Corona. Both are charged with assaulting a federal officer and conspiracy to prevent by force and intimidation a federal officer from discharging his duties, authorities said.
The allegations against the pair stem from a run-in between staff at Ontario Advanced Surgery Center and agents with Immigration and Customs Enforcement on July 8, when two landscapers ran inside the facility to avoid the agents and staff members were captured on video getting involved.
According to video obtained by KTLA-TV, staffers told two agents to leave because they didnt have a warrant to go onto the property. The agents were trying to detain 30-year-old Denis Guillen-Solis and two other landscapers.
In the video, Guillen-Solis is shown holding onto the doorway at the surgical center and asking the agents to present identification. The agents then pulled Guillen-Solis from the doorway and detained him
The charges against the two staffers continue Essaylis aggressive approach to bringing charges against people who are arrested during ICE protests and operations. Essaylis office has filed felony cases against at least 38 people for alleged misconduct that either took place in the sites of immigration raids or during last months protests, but many have been dismissed or reduced to misdemeanor charges.
According to an affidavit, the two ICE agents wore government-issued equipment, including vests and were using unmarked government-operated vehicles when they conducted their operations..

(98,699 posts)Also, they are trigger-happy, and their orange god is itching for an excuse to declare martial law.
I am not against resistance but anyone who wants to be involved beyond waving a sign needs to watch some ancient films from the Civil Rights movement. The lunch counter sit-in featured a young man getting a pot of hot coffee poured over his head before his arrest. Then there were the firehoses knocking over people in the street and police dogs attacking. Kidnappings and death.
We have a sorry history in this country in the way government puts down protestors. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. carefully orchestrated the planning and training of his troops for this battle of civil disobedience and non-violent resistance.
I dont know what else to say people just need to understand this is not a joke.

The time to fight a potentially illegal arrest of a protester isn't at the time of the arrest - it's afterwards, using the courts.

These are not the sorts of decisions you want to be making in the heat of the moment.
Have some phone numbers ready.
The Trump administration is itching for war. They'd welcome some ICE martyrs to parade around for the midterms as a pretext for further violence.

(87,205 posts)We call it our Call to Action email, and its fresh, new, and always relevant. Every week.
We recently upped it from three asks per week to four, as of June. Itll go to a full five asks per week in early 2026.
One more thing: has anybody noticed that the more you write, the better you get, at
- making good points,
- getting to the point better (and maybe with more style to it),
- thinking up MORE good points, and doing so more quickly,
- following news angles so your writings more relevant,
- feeling more secure about what you want to say,
- writing or analyzing the point(s) more cleverly,
- learning more about issues that are new to you so you sound smarter when you do talk or write about them ?
DU certainly has made me smarter about all these things, and on a daily basis.

(14,440 posts)Where you're seeing workers come back are where there's fences and standing orders at the gate - no warrant, no access.
Doesn't matter how MAGA the farmer, rancher, or overseer is, if there's no one to take care of the crops or livestock, there's no payday.
And renting prison workers takes time and contracts - not to mention the cost to hire the guards as well as train the workers.

(91 posts)The more Trump and the Republican CABAL will take it as a challenge to utilize OVERWHELMING and MASSIVE force to stop any and all uprisings.
It was published elsewhere that he has dedicated 170 BILLION to the effort.......... Think about that amount of money for a second......If you had stacks of one million dollars, that amount designated, would be ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY THOUSAND STACKS OF A MILLION DOLLARS EACH.
AND you can be assured he will target it towards mostly BLUE states, concentrating on California, New York, Colorado, etc

For example, there are raids in Florida and Texas, but not as many, because they can get people via the detainers.

I was 17, a rising senior and my public high schools representative to Girls State at UC Davis. Then Governor Ronald Reagan spoke. I was part of a coterie, polite but oppositional, who didnt rise and didnt applaud. If only California hadnt given him to the rest of the country. I was immensely pleased that 5 years later when I graduated from UC Jerry Browns signature adorned my diploma.

(13,834 posts)I have several shirts that are anti-Trump with messages being fairly subtle, but certainly known to observers who are knowledgeable. I wear them in the Florida Keys all the time and people either dont say anything or they compliment me, but Im wondering what the response will be if I wear them in California. First of all, is it a safe thing to do? Ive only been to California once before and my purpose is not to cause trouble, but I like wearing my shirts, and I like the freedom to make a statement where and when I want to. Any advice would be appreciated.

I go along whenever I havent been to a particular state or city and play tourist while she is working. I pay my airfare and meals but the hotel and rental is paid by her company. Next week I plan to see Disneyland and Knotts. Not much to do in Ontario but I will figure something out. Thanks for your advice.

(53,408 posts)to choose which local restaurant establishment I want to support when I eat out next Friday. Eating out is extremely rare for me since I can't afford it without a gift card from a Birthday or Christmas gift. I am on an extremely tight income (poverty for CA) and I LOVE food. I have Tony Bourdain memorized since 2001. So, I only eat out about 3 times a year and I remember each since it is a very special occasion for me.
In San Diego local residents resisted and flash mobbed ICE arresting everyone at a local restaurant on a lovely Friday evening and they flash mobbed Vance after he ate expensive sushi while ignoring flood victims, etc. They booed him out of the neighborhood. Both groups yelled, "Fuck you, get out of our community you fucking fascists!". Music to my ears and I applaud them and since I live about 1 mile from both locations this is a definite local issue for me on a personal level.
