I am reserved in my praise for the South Park gang

It is a given that I like the chutzpah it took for South Park to go after Trump the way they did this week. I admire the audacity in doing so.

That said, I'm not ready to put the creators on any sort of a pedestal. Partially, it is because I have never found South Park entertaining. I don't like the animation, the voice acting or writing. It just isn't funny to me and I have seen plenty of episodes and clips over the last few decades. Not my bag; c'est la vie.

Mostly I am reserved in my adulation because I bear in mind creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are dyed-in-the-wool libertarians who find my liberal values as repulsive as they do Trump's authoritarian bent. Their reflexively contrarian take on the things I recognize as having given our nation what deserved status it might have held still strikes me as adolescent.
