Does anyone know - why is Donald Trump trying to destroy the Federal Government?

The agencies, departments - all of those entities that make up the infrastructure of the Federal Government. Even more why would the members of his Cabinet also willingly support and take part in the dismantling of the departments? What is the purpose, what is the goal and why?

I can’t figure it out because even with all the entities gone, he (Donald) does not get to keep the money that those departments cost. Oh, I get it, maybe he wants to privatize everything.

So they can rebuild it to best suit them. They want a government structured like a business, with an all powerful CEO at the top, while the rest of us are just fodder for their corporate machine.

1. Destroy any Agency or mechanism within the govt that can prevent or punish him for violating the Constitution and breaking laws
2. Favors to some of his wealthy donors who wish to privatize some of these functions (like NOAA/NWS and maybe home mortgages?). It's speculative but I believe the tariffs are intended, in part, to destroy a lot of small farms making them easy acquisition targets for Ag conglomerates that support him. Strengthening crypto and weakening regulations that protect us when we bank makes it easier for banks to make profits and avoid paying penalties. We saw how some of his most generous donors work for investment firms, financial institutions... Getting rid of all those watchdog agencies and consumer protections...
3. This next one may seem far out, but I've come to believe he wouldn't mind if a lot of us just died, because he's gutting so many of the mechanisms and agencies whose purpose is to protect us, to forecast disasters and then come in and save us in the aftermath. And that includes the gutting of FEMA, disaster aid, hurricane forecasting, anything having to do with Global Warming, the medicine and sciences agencies and programs. Another examples is him cutting off wildfire fighting training. It's insane.

I know other DUers will think of some too.

A lot of the tech bro billionaires that supported Trump have let slip from time to time in the past their desire to "depopulate the planet". This ranges from Alex Karp(turn them into biodiesel) to Altman, Thiel, etc. The man behind all that is, of course, Curtis Yarvin, the Rasputin of the techno-facsist world.

There's money to be made in a country where the government provides almost no services. Need a weather report when the NWS and NOAA are gone? A private company can offer one if you pay for it; otherwise you'll have to look out the window and decide for yourself. Air traffic control? OK, but you'll have to pay for your landing clearance, radar vectors are an extra fee. Who needs good public schools when affluent parents' pockets are ripe for picking - only the poor kids will be stuck in crumbling schools with no supplies, computers, or competent teachers. It's the libertarian wet dream.

When Pinochet fired missiles into the government building and took over, he called in Milton Friedman and the Chicago School of economics to set up his economy. I saw the results years later.

Yes, privatization was obvious, yes, only the rich got a good education, regulations were thrown in the trash bin. I worked rebuilding machinery in a factory, and some of the things I did were really unsafe, there was no OSHA. Women were not allowed to work in the factory, only in the office. I hung out at a Ruby Tuesdays where I watched entire families eating, eating outside from the dumpster.

Our group was eating at an outside restaurant one day when a man unloaded on us, screaming at us, he knew we were Americans. For that trip my Spanish wasn't that great but he kept repeating the word Pinochet. I imagine his relatives suffered the wrath of Pinochet.

After that episode I made sure that my Chilean friends knew where I stood. They had a gesture they used when a drink was good, they slid their hand from the top down of their neck, meaning, good. They also slid their hand from the bottom of the neck up signifying puking. Many times I said Bush (W) while sliding my hand from the bottom up.

Krasnov is imposing Horse & Sparrow economics in America, feed the horse more oats and the sparrows will have plenty to eat. Chile was an economic test case for Milton Friedman's supply side economics.

Kleptocracy
Kleptocracy, also referred to as thievocracy, is a government whose corrupt leaders use political power to expropriate the wealth of the people and land they govern, typically by embezzling or misappropriating government funds at the expense of the wider population. One feature of political-based socioeconomic thievery is that there is often no public announcement explaining or apologizing for misappropriations, nor any legal charges or punishment levied against the offenders. He only wanted to return to the White House because it offered him protection from spending the rest of his life locked up for his many crimes. It was a mutually-beneficial arrangement. The only problem for Trump now is that they pretty much have gotten what they want, and he's no longer used to them. They knew all the dirt on him, and that's why it's all starting to leak out now. They no longer need to hold it over his head, and they're about to just get rid of him.

The answer can be found in the 2008 movie "The Dark Knight," when Alfred (Michael Caine) is discussing the character the Joker with Batman: “...some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.”

20. This might enlighten-- Steve Bannon & V. Lenin: The Deconstruction of the Administrative State
Fri Jul 25, 2025, 02:24 PM
Friday

This is from Daily Kos this year, but I read about this about 2016, as the author at Kos also recalls. A number of references came up on my first google search, but this looks to be a fair overview.

There’s more. Bannon has not been shy about his opinions and sources. He fancies himself an intellectual, and has in the past rented a villa in Italy to hold retreats about overthrowing Western Civilization. (I’m a little hazy on the details from 9 years ago)

Bannon’s a fan of some big doorstopper of a book by a Russian who’s not Lenin — it was odd enough that I tossed it in my Amazon cart so I wouldn’t forget the author and title, something I do fairly often with no intention of buying, but it didn't show up the last time I culled my long list, so I must have deleted it at some point.

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2025/1/29/2299416/--Deconstruction-of-the-administrative-state-the-Vladimir-Lenin-amp-Steve-Bannon-connection

As I’ve been reading the articles this week about the new administration I can’t help but think about what has been happening with the executive orders and other actions that they must be the thrilling highlight of Steve Bannon’s adult life. He’s long said that he wants to see the “deconstruction of the administrative state.” My recollection is that he talked about that as early as the 2016 election, but I couldn’t quickly find a record of that. He did, though, mention it at CPAC in February, 2017; and then there’s this...
In February, 2017, a Guardian columnist wrote about Bannon’s desire to emulate Lenin.

Quotes from Guardian follow, intermixed. “Lenin wanted to destroy the state and that’s my goal too,” replied Bannon. “I want to bring everything crashing down and destroy all of today’s establishment.”

Later in the column, the author describes Lenin’s style. How familiar does this sound?
But much of Lenin’s political style and strategy can be adapted to present conditions. He depended on constant conflict and drama. He deliberately used shock tactics. He was nearly always domineering, abusive and combative, and often downright vicious. He battered opponents into submission with the deliberate use of violent language, not because he was personally vicious – he wasn’t – but as a technique “calculated to evoke hatred, aversion, contempt … not to convince, not to correct the mistakes of the opponent but to destroy him, to wipe him and his organisation off the face of the earth”.

Steve Bannon has long been whispering in the felon’s ear. Leveraging his natural vindictive and petty behaviors into something much larger and far more dangerous.

The Project 2025 people which were the PNAC people and who knows what before that.

No legal safety net, so rules on business, no safety standards, no anti-pollution, no civil rights, no human rights. We'll be back to the serf days, when we could be tossed out of our homes, thrown out on the streets, and have no recourse but to move on and hope to find work and a shack to huddle in.

P2025 is just using Trump, letting him have all his fun. He'll be dead soon, or conveniently locked away, and the deal is, we'll have to take their kinder, gentler fascism. Or else. The beatings will continue until morale improves! You know you like it, stop whining about your Constitution.

It grinds their gears that they sometimes miss out on a buck because they have to avoid polluting or pay fair wages or can't form a monopoly or can't commit securities fraud. They don't want to have to waste money making sure their products are safe, internalising the environmental costs of their products that they currently externalise, worrying about worker safety, or moderating content. They don't want the IRS rooting around in their books to make sure they pay their taxes. And they sure as shit don't want to pay more taxes so the government can hire enough people to enforce those regulations.

And what they don't hate, they want to privatise. They don't want to have to compete with necessary services being run by an entity that doesn't have a profit motive. They want captive audiences for health care, postal services, public utilities, etc. so they can jack up the prices and people can't do anything about it.

Grover Norquist said in 2001 "I don’t want to abolish government. I simply want to reduce it to the size where I can drag it into the bathroom and drown it in the bathtub."

This has been the project the entire time. Donald Trump is the shiny, wavey distraction while the apparatchiks behind the scenes dismantle the administrative state that keeps Americans safe and is intended to watch out for their interests instead of the interests of private entities.

32. The goal is to replace the Constitution with White Christian Theocracy
Tue Jul 29, 2025, 11:48 AM
Tuesday

Read "Republican Gomorrah" to see how this 70 year plan was developed and has been getting executed.

All the attacks on the judiciary, on "judge made law" etc for the last decades are designed to pave a path to overturning Marbury v Madison. Overturning Roe v Wade and eliminating the "penumbra of rights" was a critical step on that road.

Trump was an accidental catalyst to this process. Mitch McConnell has done near-irreparable damage to our judiciary. The fascist Supreme Court is HIS doing, not Trump's.

But Trump has enabled the NatCs to accelerate their plan to the point that they can now attack and undermine congress. Congress has abdicated its power and authority for decades starting with their power to decide when and where we go to war and now rendering itself toothless to provide checks on an out of control president.

In the 1970s Nixon brought a test case where they tried to claim that the president could suspend the constitution for "reasons of National Security". THAT court unanimously said "No." THIS court has now given the executive nearly absolute immunity.

The goal is destroy our system of government for a white christian theocracy. The worst part is that Trump doesn't even know that, he's just happy to be the center of attention. He doesn't care what happens as long as he's the autocrat.
