Trump falls to 37% approval in Gallup Poll

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Six months into his second term, President Donald Trump’s job approval rating has dipped to 37%, the lowest of this term and just slightly higher than his all-time worst rating of 34% at the end of his first term. Trump’s rating has fallen 10 percentage points among U.S. adults since he began his second term in January, including a 17-point decline among independents, to 29%, matching his lowest rating with that group in either of his terms.

On edit: By the way, absent from the linked story is the unfavorable Trump number. According to the NY Times, that number is 58%

Trump got the Big Billionaire Bill passed, which includes every possible wet dream. Now, the biggest GOP concern is to hold on to the House in the mid-terms. Remember that some of the worse provisions (at least economically) were intentionally pushed into 2027 so that the public would not feel the direct pain before the mid-terms. If they lose the House, it is possible we could kill or claw back some of those provisions.

Nobody likes Trump, but many feared him. Now people are openly mocking him. And you can be 100% certain that people like Leo, Theil, and others are openly discussing whether they can afford to keep Trump in his position. They may well have concluded that he needs to go, and long before the mid-terms so that the GOP can put a happy face on the party and retain at least slim control of the House and Senate.

All these very uncharacteristic things have happened since the BBB passed:
* MAGA-world has exploded about Epstein.
* Trump has been jousting with Putin about Ukraine
* WSJ has made a series of important Epstein disclosures very harmful to Trump
* Vance took a secret meeting with Rupert and Son, and it very likely was without Trump's approval
* Powell openly fact-checked Trump in the most embarrassing of ways as if to say, "You are in no position to lay a finger on me, pal."
* Trump's poll continues to crater, with Gallup having him underwater a whopping 21 points now

I suggest these things are all connected. I bet Theil, Musk, Leo, Koch and friends are actively agitating within the MAGA base to turn the Epstein bonfire into an inferno. And Putin might be in on that fun too. It is absolutely implausible that the MAGA base would turn against Trump so quickly without major agitation. I believe this gang always intended to push Trump out and have Vance take over, especially if Trump continued to represent a problem for the billionaires. After all, other than insider trading, they get nothing out of the economic wreckage Trump continues to do with tariffs. The BBB does enough wreckage, but at least the billionaires profit from that. They don't get anything good from the tariffs.

So, this really does seem different. I know we have been here many times before with Trump, and maybe he will survive this one. Actually, I hope he does survive, because that means we have a better chance of capturing the House next year Stick a pin in this one. If my scenario is legit, then we will see some heavy hardball moves by Labor Day

Note how Rasmussen is slowly trending upward on total disapproval over the past 2 months. I'm only looking at the totals on the right two columns. The "strongly" numbers are a little more negative for him.

When even Rasmussen can't give him a win, you know he's starting to slide.

Eventually his approval will be low enough that purple state and purple district Republicans in congress will join Democrats to remove him.

Remember the GOP exists to just to do the bidding of the rich. They’re not going to like Trump a throwing grenades into the global economy with tariffs or his capricious foreign policy.
