Alina Habbas term as interim U.S. attorney was set to expire this week. Federal judges announced a replacement, but Attorney General Pam Bondi quickly intervened.

The leadership of the U.S. attorneys office in New Jersey was thrown into confusion on Tuesday as top Justice Department officials pushed back after federal judges in the state moved to appoint a new U.S. attorney.
The panel of federal judges rejected Alina Habbas bid to stay in the job as the states U.S. attorney. Instead, they invoked a rarely used power to select a candidate of their own, Desiree Leigh Grace, an experienced prosecutor whom Ms. Habba had named as her first assistant soon after she took over as interim U.S. attorney in March.
But the attorney general, Pam Bondi, responded Tuesday evening with a social media post defending Ms. Habba and saying that the first assistant Ms. Grace has just been removed.
This Department of Justice does not tolerate rogue judges especially when they threaten the Presidents core Article II powers, Ms. Bondi wrote.

Once again, shithole and cronies are not on the American people side.
Vote them out, better yet impeach the whole lot of them (I know) republicans are the majority in both chambers and they seriously suck.

The Justice Department on Tuesday said it fired Desiree Leigh Grace as the newly appointed U.S. Attorney for the District of New Jersey, hours after federal judges in the state chose her over President Donald Trump's pick, Alina Habba.
The announcement came after federal judges in New Jersey opted not to appoint Habba, Trump's former personal attorney, as the state's top federal prosecutor on a permanent basis. Trump appointed Habba as the state's acting U.S. attorney in March.
"This Department of Justice does not tolerate rogue judges -- especially when they threaten the President's core Article II powers," Attorney General Pam Bondi posted on X in announcing Grace's firing.
Grace was Habba's first assistant before district judges elevated her to the top job, setting up Habba's ouster.
Habba was awaiting Senate confirmation when her 120-day term as acting U.S. attorney expired this week.
