What Trump and the GOP have planned next for NPR and PBS should scare you

The Republican Congress has voted almost unanimously to strip public broadcasters NPR and PBS of their federal funding. President Donald Trump will soon make it official when he signs the rescission cut into law. Both NPR and PBS are now at significant risk, along with the dozens of local radio and television stations in their networks.

“It is very important that all Republicans...DEFUND THE CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC BROADCASTING (PBS and NPR), which is worse than CNN & MSNBC put together,” Trump wrote on Truth Social prior to the Senate vote.

“Border crossings at their lowest levels in history last week and NPR defunded. Two big wins!” Vice President JD Vance, who cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate this week slashing more than $9 billion from PBS and NPR and international aid agency USAID, crowed on X.

But stripping NPR and PBS of federal funding is just the first step in the Trump/GOP master plan for both public broadcasting networks. What the Trump White House will almost certainly propose next should send deep shivers down the spines of everyone in America.

According to Project 2025 – the Heritage Foundation’s policy and political blueprint that the Trump administration has hewed to religiously since Trump’s inauguration to a second term in January—defunding NPR and PBS was just the first step.

The second shoe to fall would be to reclassify both NPR and PBS and strip both public broadcasters of their noncommercial, educational status .

AM & FM radio is old technology. People will be able to watch or listen to what they want.

Religious networks like TBN, Daystar, CBN and the like lost their mass following years ago after mega-churches, Charismatic and WOF movement started dying out. (Which BTW, is the only reason Paula White is now pimping the WH with her foolishness...it is because she became irrelevant to Christians and needs money.) No one watches religious broadcasting on TV anymore; and it won't ever regain an appeal to true Christians. As for Evangelicals, or Southern Baptists (not the same as "Christians" in my opinion) - they were never typical "TBN network" followers - meaning it never appealed to them then and I don't see religious broadcasting being something the would suddenly take interest in now. So this will definately be a total dead end television network, straight out the gate.

I remember a Southern Baptist friend who wasn't allowed to play cards or dance...while our American Baptist youth groups often had parties with music of all kinds, dancing and cards (more like Uno or Go Fish usually). We had fun in the "liberal" Baptist Church...
I went the the week long summer camps they ran a couple of summers and had my first girlfriend and very good times...

And the CBN cathedral in Costa Mesa is just a giant empty shell. Too bad we can't use it for housing. Fuck the Crouches.

Because it means no one wants to come here. Signs of a bad economy, bad life quality. If no one is coming, probably something bad is happening.
