According to multiple videos of the incident, a woman approached the girls who were dining at the café and asked if they were Jewish and if the cafe was kosher. When one of the girls said yes, the woman screamed free Palestine in the girls' faces and told them they were killing babies.
After the woman saw one of the girls was filming, she began throwing their food at them, smashing their plates and yelling. She also threw one of the girl's phones and broke it.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed to the Jerusalem Post on Monday that the woman "had assaulted staff and customers while shouting antisemitic abuse and comments related to the conflict in the Middle East." The spokesperson added that officers arrested a 32-year-old woman on the street nearby on suspicion of racially aggravated criminal damage and multiple assaults (ABH). She was taken into custody and subsequently released on bail.

(23,078 posts)These are innocent Jewish people at a deli, they have zero to do with the evil genocidal maniacs running Israel right now and are being attacked because of antisemitic tropes that somehow Jewish people outside of Israel have some special loyalty to Israel above their own countries.
I think all DUers condemn antisemitic attacks like this, no matter what we think about the ethnic cleansing going on in Gaza right now.

(67,249 posts)I've seen people in real life defend attacks like this.
Antisemitism is a big problem.

(23,078 posts)What's crazy is that a couple of the Jewish people I know are the most vocal opponents to Israel's actions in Gaza that I see online. Someone's religion doesn't mean they support the Far right government of some other country. Muslims in America and Europe are not responsible for Hamas's actions either.

(44,941 posts)that claim that antisemitic happenings are not exactly antisemitic, they're really just protesting Israel's actions in Gaza. Also that there is no antisemitism on the left, none at all.

(5,138 posts)to these occurrences is damned troubling to me. I think were no longer on the brink; we're in the decline. If we dont wake up and draw the line, well find theres nothing (and no one) left to defend.

(638 posts)I'm not sure if it's the mean-spiritedness, the pointlessness, or the attacking children as a "protest" against other kids being attacked is most offensively stupid.
Even if you really hate Israel's war in Gaza, throwing plates and food at kids in another place is just not going to result in anything positive changing. It's just expressing hatred.

(44 posts)But this is what happens when the right is openly antisemitic and the left puts blinders on not to see the antisemitism popping up on our side. Society just accepts it so jews as a whole suffer.
