He asked her about the R's questioning why the Biden administration did not release the Epstein files (of course he did) and she said:
The President blaming the Democrats for this disaster, Jake, is like that CEO who was caught on camera blaming Coldplay!"
She then went on to point out that they have been claiming forever that they should be released and trump is the one who was passing out copies of the Epstein files labeled Part One until they did a sudden 180 which has not been explained.

(344 posts)Releasing the Grand Jury proceedings would take a judge's order. That is why Trump is calling on them to be released, his people know the judge will probably deny the request. The rest of the evidence is in the FBI's hands and Trump could order that released. Instead Bondi ordered an extra 1000 FBI agents to scour those files for any mention of Trump. Doubt we'll be seeing that evidence anytime soon.
If maga falls for the distraction of this ploy, then he thinks he can't lose. If the judge denies it, he will scream about liberal activist judges. If the judge grants it, he probably has little to no mention in the grand jury transcripts and will say: see, I told you so.
Remember, Epstein and Maxwell were the only ones indicted. The grand jury info will have plenty of references to them, but probably little about other people. The DoJ would only need to show the evidence against those it was intent on prosecuting. They would leave out any evidence they didn't need to show to get indictments against Epstein and Maxwell. Either to avoid dragging through the mud anyone they weren't going to prosecute or to avoid tipping off someone they were still investigating.
That last point is one that blows my mind. This non-lawyer knows enough to have the perfect excuse to placate maga and the AG isn't smart enough to pick up on it. They just need to say, they can't release it right now because of an on going investigation. As soon as all the evidence is collected, charges will be filed and the evidence will be made public. Of course, it's too late for that now, it would just be them changing the story yet again and deepening the cover up.
I'm actually enjoying watching the smoke roll out of maga ears over the contradictions in all this. From the beginning, they've been told that democrats and coastal elites were trafficking children for sex, then killing them to harvest adrenochrome. Trump and other republicans have stoked those conspiracies to their electoral benefit. Now maga is so invested in the idea the Clintons and other liberals have been getting away with these crimes, they can't accept it was all bullshit. They demand justice "for the children" and now Trump and Rs are trapped because they can't deliver what they promised. Maga can't accept that they were wrong and can't accept the possibility that Trump might be the predator they were looking for all along.

(5,903 posts)manipulators / accusers / exploiters of their pizzagate bullshit have had it all blowup in their OWN faces - having elected the pedo in Chief. Not that the facts surrounding Trump's relationship with Epstein should be news to them.
Though I am surprised, quite frankly, that there are those who thought Biden had any control over the release of any of it.
Goes to show how deeply Trump & Co's misinformation can seep into reality.

she did a very good job on this appearance. She stayed on point and kept it simple. That's the way to do it.
The only thing I would suggest is that she should have asserted more vigorously that there have NEVER been ANY Dems in Congress that EVER did anything to block the release of the full Epstein dossier. Only Republicans have done that.
And yes, it was nice for Tapper not to interrupt and harrass the Democrat, as is his usual approach. Maybe a tide really is turning.

(22,917 posts)I like your idea about saying the Dems have never done anything to block the release. The R's are experts at implying things until they become "common knowledge", so we need to push back.

There are nice ways to do this. Something like, "Now Jake, CNN is one of the preeminent news sources. You guys have a vast library of, well everything, and you have some of the most capable researchers in the business. In that vast library of information, can you find a single event, a single clip, a single vote, a single press conference, a single public statement where any Democrat even vaguely hinted they didn't want a full disclosure of the Epstein affair. I'm serious, Jake. I don't know of any. If you do, I'd like to know about it because I will condemn that because the whole thing is horrible. And if any Democrats or Dem supporters were involved in Epstein's crimes, I will do everything in my power to see that they face strong consequences for that. And on the other hand, we had a vote just last week where every Republican on the Rules Committee voted to bury the information."

One of the other ladies finally had enough and said ok Biden was wrong. When is Trump going to make it right even if the GOP in in congress won't? That was enough to shut him up.

Not sure what the criticism is, unless it was some rumors a while back that she is a bit rough on her staff.
