I still plan to take a trip there from Newfoundland to Toronto for at least a month. God willing!

The other half has not.

(2,155 posts)..North Vancouver (Mount Seymour) Wonderful script/movie/series. Our thoughts turned to what's happening to
our country and landscape. "Drill baby drill)" "We don't need all those park Rangers"...Trump said "I'll bet there's oil
in some of those parks" (Barf). Seems like DU is sorta' like Canada. Intelligent..Kind ..Informative. Sigh....

(12,666 posts)I am staying at my son's babysitting an elderly dog. Took the dog out for a walk after a particularly bad storm on Friday night and got chatting with a woman on the trail, about the storm. She said to me, "I blame Trump, as a matter of fact anything bad happens I always blame Trump". I replied to her, you can't go wrong on that. He is so hated here, even by most in the radical province of Alberta.

(7 posts)I have always felt that the murder of so many liberals such as JFK, RFK, MLK, etc. in the 1960s began the decline of liberalism and the long slide into the barbaric and destructive conservatism (that conserves nothing) we suffer through today. IMO there have been no liberals for the past 60 years who have been able to energize the American people to build a better society. I often wonder how different and hopefully better our country might have been if those leaders had lived.
Since the 1990s the rightwing media has been adept at spinning its lies and dividing us into warring camps. The Right plays dirty and seizes more power than it merits through gerrymandering, appointment of arch conservatives to the supreme court, voter fraud, stolen elections such as 2000 and possibly 2016, and a variety of other dirty tricks and character assassinations that would have made Josef Goebbels smile. This must be stopped. Where are our leaders?

(31,071 posts)The U.S. is no longer entitled to anything resembling such a polite, classy reprimand. Amazing, the damage that one piece-of-shit politician can do to a country that, once upon a time, was proud, accomplished, and worthy of admiration.

(5 posts)but the GOP has learned how best to grow and harvest it to our detriment. Takes a lot of corporate money and expertise to fuel all that racism, misogyny, homophobia, election gerrymandering they got goin for them. How do we compete?
