During Bush the seconds presidential campaign, George W Bush was getting beaten up over his preferential treatment he received in getting into the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam war. He also was AWOL a lot. It was alleged at the time he went AWOL due to his abuse of cocaine. None of it could be proven. Until a memo from the time was given to Dan Rather and CBS who ran with the supposed evidence. Within minutes of the story running, right wing bloggers were claiming that typewriters at the of the memos writing did not have the font that was being used. This blew up the authenticity claims and effectively inoculated Bush from further questions on the National Guard issue. It is probably true that Karl Rove supplied the fake memo and then had the bloggers expose it to accomplish that goal.
Trumps minions could have gotten the WSJ to publish the card, Trump sues, then the WSJ admits that the card is not genuine. Trump is then inoculated from the story. I dont think it would work but I think it could be tried.

(46,010 posts)in the first place. I also believe the reporters have more stories to come. The louder Trump screams Fake the more evidence WSJ will publish.
Of course YMMV.

(10,409 posts)DID have proportional spacing. The IBM Executive had proportional spacing. It wasnt terribly unusual to see them before Selectrics totally dominated IBMs offerings. I used one at the job I had at that time, and I got quite good at it. A capital W was five units, a capital I was one unit, and there was a half-unit spacebar along with the standard one-unit spacebar so that one could even do primitive kerning. That whole thing pissed me off so much, especially what it did to Dan Rather.
