Colbert is under contract till 2026, he makes $15M a year. Reports I've read say the show costs CBS about $100M annually to produce, and it's losing about $40M every year. CBS announced it was ending the 'Late Show' franchise in 2026.

Let's see if CBS execs are even bigger trump whores than they appear to be, at the moment.

That’s why I don’t think his cancellation was part of a settlement agreement with Trump.

And I don't think he's going to do anything that makes him toxic for future employment.
However, he's a ratings giant so he can maintain what he's been doing to keep those numbers coming. Clearly there a big social set that appreciates his humor.

I hate to see him go the podcast route.

It dangerous to summon his goon squad . They have no morals. They think their criminal leader will protect them.

besides, I don't see him going hungry, he's going to be highly in demand as a guest on other shows and I'd be shocked if there weren't a book or ten in the works.

I have to admit I share his opinion on the big payout King Pollo was able to extort with such minimal effort from a bunch of either frightened or partisan executives. I came close to dumping a fairly sizable chonk o stock when I first heard about it, but I rather think whoever made such a rash and unfortunate decision to cave without any sort of a fight is not going to last long in the executive suite.

I just hate it every time a bunch of c-level execs start to stuff their heads up their bums and let conservatives in the organization start to make decisions. It just never works out for the company.

(no, I didn't own the stock during the Katie Couric debacle, you'd think they'd have learned their lesson))
