I get that theres a certain irony when people who bought into the lies end up suffering because of them. It is frustrating. But at what point do we stop pointing and laughing, and start recognizing the decades-long right-wing media machine that misled so many?
For 40+ years, there has been a steady drumbeat of disinformation, and the worst part? There was barely any real resistance. And when there was, it often felt like it was designed to fail. Now with the bullshit happening at the Washington Post, the defunding of NPR - it's getting worse! WAAAAAAY WORSE!
Just putting that out there.

(35,925 posts)Never. I want the maga pubs to understand - they are guilty and there is no quarter for the unAmerican filth. Loyalty Oaths when the regime falls.

(4,520 posts)They live on mocking others and will only have a chance at learning when THEY are being mocked. Fuck em. Its time to grow up.

And what would preclude someone from enjoying the FAFO while also acknowledging how they became brainwashed?

(2,918 posts)The cause of their suffering. Theyll just believe the BS that its all the Dems fault they re suffering. Until we fix the media those people will never learn

(5,191 posts)Their votes weren't predicated on a lack of knowledge, their votes were predicated on hatred. I'll meet hatred with mockery rather than more hatred, but I certainly won't allow it tolerance.

(149,551 posts)While it doesn't always happen that way, it does fairly often. So, calling it out seems appropriate pretty much any time.

(63,123 posts)TBH, it's pretty shitty compensation for watching what was a pretty amazing place to live being destroyed by the minute by psychopaths and the mouth-breathing, toxic clowns who vote for them.
That said, I'll take whatever satisfaction I can find these days.

(9,371 posts)And how about this: we "start recognizing that the decades-long right-wing media machine that misled so many" when THEY recognize it.
Even those that are upset MAGA screwed them over are only upset because they got screwed over -- not because they came to some epiphany that they have been lied to all this time.

(762 posts)I'm livid with these assholes empowering this monster and his ghouls. I'm convinced at their core they are cruel. You'd think mocking an individual with a disability would have lost his support, or the way he speaks about women, or elitist attitude towards us.
We're are the sane people scooped up into Jone's getaway or Koresh's compound. They are a deadly, hypocritical cult.
So no....fuck em, hope they get FO quite a bit, it's what they asked for.

So Im going to enjoy watching the people who voted for Trump and the people who voted their conscience by voting 3rd party or staying home being miserable.

(67,342 posts)I'm a deeply flawed human being whose immediate thought after Trump was reelected was "how can I get revenge for this."
I admit to hoping that all kinds of bad things happen to Trumpsters, especially the ones who are comfortable and well-off.
I don't wish ill on poor people who were desperate and believed his lies. I wish ill on people who were doing just fine under Joe Biden but greedily wanted more.
I recognize that my desire for retribution is a sin and I'm praying on it.

(686 posts)Yes you can say they wanted it for others, but an eye for an eye just leaves the whole world blind. I'm not interested in punishing people because I don't think punishment alone works.
And it's not like just Trump supporters are finding out. For every instance of a Trump supporter getting deported, there's so many more who aren't Trump supporters. Same for people who will suffer from funding being cut, etc.
And then there's that when we get past this moment, if we want to rebuild America, our government, our society, that's only made more difficult if we get so invested in their suffering.
I get the appeal of wanting to see them suffer, but in my own life, my mental health got a lot better when I stopped holding on to wanting people who wronged me to suffer for it or even to acknowledge it. Instead I focused on myself, on making my own life better. The anger I held harmed me.

(1,480 posts)We are living in an age where we are always targeted for some kind of manipulation. At the same time, I think it is getting harder to keep secrets of ill doing. I think we need to go back to the times like our grandparents and parents lived in where you did not talk about money, politics, or religion in public. Stuffing your racism works for me.
The real enemy to the people are the huge corporations who just want wage slaves. Its not rural v. urban, white v. black, immigrants v. citizens, USA against the world bc we are better than any country in the world. No. We all share one little planet together and the sooner we act like it the better.

(22,456 posts)Those people gleefully and willingly sucked up all the hate, racism, and cruelty.
They WANT to be able to get away with being hateful and malicious.
So no, I'm not tired of mocking them and rubbing their noses in their own putrid, vile, sadism. I enjoy watching pure justice being served to them.

(3,097 posts)Yes there has been decades of right wing media, but those people still have agency and therefore are responsible for their stupidity. Right wing media isn't the only source these people get information from. Some of these people have been told face to face up the bad things that would happen by their friends and even their families and chose not to listen.

(27,198 posts)The only way were going to be able to save this country is if/when enough of them FO enough to realize theyve been conned. Otherwise, will just get one Trump-clone after another.
There are a lot of people going through a lot of shit from immigrants to old ladies like myself who feel deeply betrayed by so many. Before these people took power I would never have needed or even thought about taking delight in their eye opening moments. Now I look forward them. They brought hell down on us and they did it deliberately and maliciously. Nope, not tired of those stories.
