The charade is wearing thin and people are noticing

This OP is prompted by The Gnome's latest bombast: https://www.democraticunderground.com/100220479935 senseandsensibility wrote:

Noem just now at a press conference regarding Democrats

"They aren't just liberals anymore. If you look at the Democrat Party, they're a party of communists and Marxists and socialists."

Their rhetoric is getting more extreme by the hour. It's a sign of some desperation and it WON'T help them.

It won't help them because ordinary citizens, who might be low info and inclined to simply trust "the government", ... ordinary citizens will be exposed to the extremity of it more and more. As time goes on, they will increasingly get the impression that the people running the government are over the top, getting bizarre, not making sense, lying.

The regime is a bit desperate because they know they are dropping in the polls, so they want to keep their base and they think that the more extreme they paint the opposition (i.e. us), the more the citizens will rally to their side thinking the US is under attack from ... us. But it will backfire.

Little things like FEMA weak late response begin to be noticed and remembered more.

The charade is wearing thin and becoming more obvious to the people whose adherence is wavering, the people they most desperately are trying to keep away from ... us.

Hubris run amok. They start believing their own bullshit, consume their own bullshit and spew even nuttier bullshit. Leading to an implosion that usually ends in a whimper. Not saying they don't cause serious damage along the way, but the end is quite ignominious. Sometimes so bad they end up becoming a verb. Maybe at some point in the future, to "Trump" means to blow up in a way that's enormously embarrassing and stupid. "Dude had it all, but eventually he "Trumped" and was never heard from again."

I may be whistling past the graveyard. I kind of vacillate on that with the latest outrage. But part of me still doesn't buy the idea that this pack of complete idiots can pull off some dictatorial takeover that's substantial or terribly long lasting. Time will tell.

When in the past did Republicans ever acknowledge that Democrats were "just liberals" and not "communists and Marxists and socialists"?

Never.

So, since Republicans always claim Democrats are communists, Marxists, and/or socialists' no matter what Democrats do or say, then their opinion has no merit.

Because so many Rs have claimed that, it has sunk in as conventional "wisdom" and many believe it without question.

MindWar: The Psychological War on Democracy
I Asked ChatGPT to Analyze Stephen Miller
https://www.mind-war.com/p/i-asked-chatgpt-to-analyze-stephen

Stephen Miller said on Fox News recently,

"California and Los Angeles are waging insurrection against the federal government. They are protecting those who traffic in the suffering of children. And by the way, do you know why so many of these unaccompanied alien minors are being put to work in slave wages and slave conditions all across California to pay off their cartel debts?

The Democrat Party is funneling these profits. From rape, profits from exploitation, and yes, profits from murder into the hands of the cartels that control the North of Mexico, that assassinate politicians, that assassinate judges, that assassinate women and children, and that smuggle fentanyl into our country.

Cartels are waging war against America and their allies are the Democrat Party and their allies are the Democrat politicians that are incentivizing these migrant mobs to try to murder our ICE officers and call blood. I never thought we would ever see the day when Democrat politicians would use language and use rhetoric that would encourage illegal aliens and radical left nonprofits to try to murder ICE officers. But that's where we are right now. And what we are seeing done to this country is the mass theft of wages from the middle class to the migrant mobs. And that has to stop.“

Jim Stewartson asked ChatGPT to analyze that short speech, without telling it who was the speaker and working to avoid any attempt to trigger bias in the AI. Directions were to analyze this statement and give the implications.

The response?

This statement is an extreme example of eliminationist political rhetoric—the kind that seeks to portray political opponents not just as wrong, but as existential enemies of the nation who are complicit in criminality and violence.

snip…

Incitement to Political Violence
• By equating mainstream Democratic leaders with murderous cartel collaborators, this rhetoric increases the likelihood of political violence.
• This logic can be used to justify extrajudicial actions or vigilante behavior “in defense of the nation.”
• Delegitimization of Lawful Governance
• Accusing a U.S. state of “waging insurrection” delegitimizes any federalist resistance to central authority.
• Undermines trust in local governance, immigration policy, and the rule of law.
• Normalizing Extremism
• Treats ICE, a controversial agency, as sacred and above criticism.
• Describes criticism or protest as attempts to “murder” agents—normalizing the idea that dissent is treason.
• Scapegoating Immigrants
• Immigrants—especially unaccompanied minors—are falsely portrayed as violent, criminal, or parasitic.
• Fuels xenophobic attitudes and policies, including potential mass deportations or even internment.
• Stoking Civil Conflict
• The invocation of “insurrection,” “war,” and “theft from the middle class” positions the speaker’s audience as under siege.
• Sets up the framework for calls to “take the country back,” potentially through violent or authoritarian means.

I *hope* that the fact that the article quoted ChatGPT in what I excerpted and what was quoted is not original human content, there's a little leeway on the length of the excerpts.

ALL systems tend to have their elites. The more dogmatic the system, the more tightly its elite insists on control. Laissez-faire capitalism will have the luckiest rise to the top. A regulated capitalism (e.g. a social democracy) will have its cleverest rise to the top. Socialism in just about any form tends to have its cruelest rise to the top, always using equality as a phony cover for its elite claiming absolute power, “looking out for the people.” Whether Soviet Socialism, National Socialism, “goulyás” socialism, probably “Democratic” Socialism too, if it should ever come to power somewhere. Countries claiming to be “socialist” invariably end up becoming countries that people flee, not countries where they run to seek sanctuary. It sounds great on paper, never works out in practice.
