Supermarket sticker shock. Trump Bananas up 8%. Thanks Trump.

Most eye-popping today was the store owned by the big European company, a full-service supermarket. They carry everything, and that inventory costs money for sure. But they have sales competitive with Wallies, and like I say - everything from fresh baked, ready to eat, frozen, and more. Instant national brand cheescake was up 23.6%. Packaged cake mixes up about 80 cents each on a $2.49 item. The selection of fresh fish was paltry, mostly wild caught shrimp at $19 a pound. No cod, tuna, sardines, halibut or any other. But ice cream was $2.50, national brand, and I didn't break my low carb diet. I resisted. Also, common to see steak at $12-20 a pound, the higher being Angus.

Aldi had the instant cheesecake, new item, at the same old price of the other store that's now $1.10 higher. Seems to me everyone is experimenting with prices to see how to make up margins. But there are fewer items, and far fewer from foreign suppliers.

Post your shopping tales. We know who raised food prices.

1. Coffee up 8-9% and the chance of those being manufactured in America is pretty low (except Hawaiian coffee).

Now it’s 1.33 per gallon. In Florida you always need to have extra water on hand.
Most items have gone up fresh or frozen.

I used to love a brand of sourdough wholewheat bread that comes in small slices and paid 3.99 a loaf for years Suddenly it's 6.99, so I guess that's history. The store we shop at gives rewards and today we cashed in our quarterly reward of thirty-two bucks! Hey, it's something!
