the hollowing out of American industry...
the orange idiot, always high on his own supply, thinks we can just pick up and start making stuff here again in the U.S.
sadly, no.
once upon a time, we did just that, but then came the 1980's and ray-guns bullshit of morning in America. it should have been called mourning of America.
it was the era of vulture capitalists aka old mittens and his bain capital ilk.
there is a great book called Methland. it's about the midwest and how meth took over and destroyed whole communities and sometimes small cities.
but how could this happen? why would a thriving community suddenly crash and burn and turn to meth as self medication for lifes ills?
venture capitalists, that's why.
in they would swoop to take a "struggling" industry, company or corporation and "help them out". basically putting them so far into debt that they would have to declare bankruptcy.
and the VC's were off to their next victim.
then in steps meth, because the former union jobs now gone, people would have to work double or triple shifts to make the same money they were making before at a union house.
but the human body can only do so much. A little help, aka meth, is needed to work 3 straight days of triple shifts then crash and burn. rinse and repeat until the person is only working for the next fix or not working at all and stealing to get the fix.
the VC's would march across the union based midwest taking town after town and leaving nothing but destruction and lost hopes in their wake.
but more so, former plants and industrial complexes, now slow rotting cavities upon the landscape. Never ever to return.
fast forward today.
we as a nation, we as workers have been cut off at the knees by the greed of the ultra wealthy.
the seeds of our currently situation were planted decades ago.
and as always the gullible, the yes men, the sycophants believe that "America will be great again" whatever that means other than a marketing catch phrase to reel in the desperately stupid.
if there was an actual plan instead of a "concept" of a plan, as the orange asshole has pondered, a slow ramp up with real incentives to build here would be a great idea. but that is not what we are getting. we are getting the "get rich quick" scheme writ large.
but the thing is, people are finally waking up, and more and more on the right as well, that this is all nothing more than yet another grift, just on a larger scale.
