Do you ever wonder, with Trump

How is this going to end? Less than 100 days into his second term - what a mess. How is this going to end for us?

Name any organization in the nation and what he is and has done, our personal relations, family, religion, you name it - how is this going to end?

MAGA is incapable of assembling a governing majority with only its adherents. It depends on the additional votes of peolple who would put their neighbors on cattle cars for cheap gas and eggs.

Then we might end up “cooking” our neighbors? Or rather not cremating our neighbors, somewhere in between Camps and Concentration camps.

Hopefully we won’t get to that point, but to your point - where is the soft landing for the nation and what does it look like?

We're taught in school pluralism, the rule of law, majority rule/minority rights are positive goods. Some people ignored their learning and couldn't care less as long as their material needs are met.

I can't listen to Fox News for five minutes without feeling traumatized. The racism and meanness is repellant.

Yet hundreds of millions of Americans are glued to it and equally repulsive outlets, eagerly drinking the poison and letting themselves get worked up.

Why? One reason is the pervasive racism in this country. That's the hook that pulls in consumers of right-wing garbage. Their anger and resentments were always right below the surface. Now they have permission to indulge it.

It's quite possible that this is unsalvageable. We may lose the country and hope to rebuild better one day.

Stopped in front of my house and yelled out, sorry about election...I voted for Harris too.

Maybe we come together, and get what 89% of people want healthcare for all, education free, and living wages with a robust social security. We can have this when the rich and corporations are forced to pay their fair share.

"The Fourth Turning Is Here" by Neil Howe. I believe it pretty much outlines what is going to be happening over the next few years.

The truly scary thing is that this fourth turning may not turn out well, unlike every other such turning going back some 500 years.

According to the theory, historical events are associated with recurring generational personas (archetypes). Each generational persona unleashes a new era (called a turning) lasting around 21 years, in which a new social, political, and economic climate (mood) exists. They are part of a larger cyclical "saeculum" (a long human life, which usually spans around 85 years, although some saecula have lasted longer). The theory states that a crisis recurs in American history after every saeculum, which is followed by a recovery (high). During this recovery, institutions and communitarian values are strong. Ultimately, succeeding generational archetypes attack and weaken institutions in the name of autonomy and individualism, which eventually creates a tumultuous political environment that ripens conditions for another crisis.[citation needed]

How we have gone so long without anyone truly questioning Trump’s mental state. The man is unstable in so many areas..that will probably only be acknowledged when it is too late…or he is dead.

An overwhelming amount of evidence comes to light that Trump stole the 2024 election and has been groomed by Putin for decades to destroy our country for his personal benefit. Sadly unlikely, although true. It will probably all come out in time.

Alternatively, the American oligarchs get fed up (‘we voted for lower taxes, not this insanity’) and twist the arms of the suck ups on Capitol Hill to take action to get rid of TSF (metaphorically). Since the Republican Senators and Congresspeople seem to have no moral core, they are in the unenviable position of having to decide who is most likely to destroy them and their family - TSF or their constituents.

Ultimately, it may be up to the American people to decide that they’ve had enough and to take action to end the tyranny and the looming destruction of our country. I’m not sure what this would entail, but I expect that it would involve violence on both sides. Frankly, I’m amazed that TSF’s approval ratings remain relatively high, despite the total chaos that he has caused and the impending cuts to the social services that his base depends on.

Personally, I’m convinced that American democracy will prevail in the end. But the leaders of the Republican coup may not be held fully accountable and the cleanup will not be pretty.

But just think about what he dismantled last time and the millions of deaths that resulted. Covid comes to mind. He was never fully blamed like he should have been. He gutted programs and response teams that could have stopped covid from unleashing into a global pandemic.

Now multiply all of that times 1,000. He is gutting so many things, which means millions upon millions of people around the world are going to die. The carnage will begin to manifest within the next 2 years or maybe even a lot sooner. I can only hope that he and his supporters will feel the brunt of it but sadly all of us will be affected.

Tempers are getting shorter.

The economy is tanking, prices are rising, and even wealthy people are feeling frustrated and angry as things they counted on are getting messed up. I belong to a FB group of collectors of items that are often imported from other countries. They're getting mad about higher prices and new fees from carriers. Tariffs haven't even taken effect yet and prices are rising.

Those of us who despise Trump feel more angry than ever. People who voted for him are starting to feel a strain, I think. They struggle to defend him. Here on DU there are a few people who hoped some of Trump's appointees might do good things. They're not. They are evil incompetent morons.

I'm seeing a level of tension that is new.

The country is headed toward a crisis.

People are slowly starting to appreciate what is happening via the prices, so there is a direct cause and effect via the Tariffs.

Domestic politics showing the strains - people protesting, and International relations damaged due to our stable genius.

Where and when does it end and how does it end, reasonable people might ask.

I hate it but can't see a good end to this. SCOTUS will not save us because it is part and parcel of the destruction that is being wrought, same with the military. I'm so glad to see people finally going to the streets, but this would have to increase x100 for it to make a mark. Normal folks would have to wake up, turn off Faux Snooze and face reality.

Something major, like Social Security checks not being sent is the only thing that might wake up the stupid R's and ignorant I's to the danger they are personally facing and force a change. Of course that would be disastsrous, so my first sentence is still in play

That dear leader is considering sending troops to another location in the Middle East, definitely in harms way. Someone mentioned that he has 60 days where he has the freedom to practice war before Congress has to either authorize it or bring them home. With this spineless Congress I am reasonable sure that they will acquiesce to whatever Donald wants, but unfortunately dear leader never has a plan.

Someone once said, domestic politics will get you unelected, but foreign politics will get you killed.

Satire aside, Generation Z may get to experience false masculinity.
