I'm losing track. Is this the 3rd or 4th time...

… that the Secret Service has dropped the ball?

The assassination attempt

The “attempted assassination” at the golf course

Noem’s stolen(?) purse

????

Is this another case of “whatever Trump touches dies”? He shuffled people around, got rid of some agents, appointed incompetent people to run it, etc.

Have all the competent people left, are they overworked, or just don’t give a damn anymore? Or, of course, all the above…

They announced to the world how utterly, irretrievably compromised they are years ago:

Secret Service erased text messages from Jan. 6 and the day before, the Homeland Security watchdog says

Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph Cuffari said he was informed that many of the messages from Jan. 5 and Jan. 6 had been erased “as part of a device-replacement program.”

WASHINGTON — The Secret Service erased text messages from both Jan. 6 and the day before the attack on the Capitol after the Department of Homeland Security's internal watchdog requested records of electronic communications tied to the insurrection, according to a letter sent to congressional committees that was obtained by NBC News.

The details about the erased messages were revealed in a letter to two congressional committees Wednesday, in which Homeland Security Inspector General Joseph Cuffari said he was informed that many of the messages from Jan. 5 and Jan. 6, 2021, had been erased “as part of a device-replacement program.”

"The USSS erased those text messages after OIG requested records of electronic communications from the USSS, as part of our evaluation of events at the Capitol on January 6," Cuffari said in his letter.

I agree, the rot goes back years...

But still... they might have a right wing/MAGAT core, but they were still fairly competent. If these things had happened under a Democratic administration, I'd say that the incompetence was intentional. But you'd think that they would be trying their best to protect Republicans...
