Elon Musk reportedly wants to leave politics, because he is tired of getting criticized by folks like us. Heres an idea: stop being absolutely horribleand start using your money to help America, instead of trying to destroy it.
Trump lackey GOP Rep. Byron Donalds held a town hall, and wowthat was a disaster. He faced constant backlash, as angry constituents shouted or walked out early. At one point, Donalds threw a temper tantrum when asked if he read the book Caste by Isabel Wilkerson. How embarrassing for him. Good.
In the courts, Harvard sued the Trump administration to stop a freeze on at least $2.2 billion in grants. Harvards President Alan Garber said: We stand for the truth that colleges and universities across the country can ... fulfill their essential role in society without improper government intrusion.
A judge paused the NYC Deputy Mayors executive order allowing ICE to operate out of Rikers Island jail. The lawsuit, filed by the New York City Council, argues that the order is "unlawful, tainted by the conflict of interest, and part of a corrupt bargain with the Trump administration.

(9,108 posts)and more progressive generations will be an ever-bigger and more reliable voting bloc. (Yes, that's a big generalization, many progressive Boomers and Gen Xers, blah blah...)

(13,166 posts)because of the huge number of progressive youth during the Nixon era.
What I learned later is that the battle against right-wing ideology is never finished. As people age and start to benefit more from the status quo, many choose comfort and the illusion of personal security over progress and inclusivity.
Thats why those of us who want justice and equality have to do this over and over.

(16,564 posts)of economic security and benefits that older baby boomers (and their parents) enjoyed through the 50s, 60s and half of the 70s. That change was a direct result of favoring corporations and later, supply side theory, over individual people in national economic policy and law. Wages, cost of higher education, and health insurance as well as health care costs all suffered.

(3,769 posts)I believe the group you refer to are made up of older military people who still believe in real patriotism but cannot differentiate the fake patriotism we live today from the so called "good for defense" republican party, and those white rural people who have been convinced there is a war against whites, against christmas, against christians, etc., and have been told those lies over and over, they don't pay attention to the realities of the republican corruption and just follow like sheep without asking questions, and unfortunately, there are a lot of those born in 1970 and after.
Democrats need to educate people, they need to let people know, with examples, proof, what this and previous republican administrations have done to the country, to them because all they hear is the lies republicans tell them, the hateful rhetoric, and we know that is the one thing republicans are good at, propaganda and lies.

I guess there's more of them now...

(31,525 posts)The mechanisms for stealing or gaming elections started being
put in place in the 90's.
The media started veering right in the 90's.
And the Republican appeals to racism turned the South Republican.
Then corporations and the rich stepped in to take over the media
and other outlets, along with becoming more and more able
to buy politicians and judges.
What would you say if I told you that more billionaires donated to Biden/Harris than to trump?
Sad but true.
In support of your belief., I heard a report on Preet Baharas podcast that talked about exactly this issue. Ian Bremer was the guest. In case anyone wants to listen to it, its the most recent one.
