In a statewide race, unlike his very blue district race, Republicans would push it big time, and I'm not just talking about the ridiculous Pulte mortgage investigation. Get on his Twitter feed and you'll see what I'm talking about. But in blue California, whoever is the Dem nominee will likely win, regardless of baggage.
And Swalwell is running behind Porter in his own poll that his supporters paid for:
The latest poll of the race comes from EMC Research and was reported by Punchbowl News after reports that Swalwell could jump into the race. It showed Hilton with 20 percent support, while Porter and Bianco followed at 16 percent and 14 percent. Swalwell polled at 11 percent, while other candidates were in the single digits. The poll was conducted by "an outside group supporting the congressman," reported Punchbowl.

Both Swalwell and Porter would make great governors, but as former constituent and volunteer for Porter, I know her and like her a lot. She's got my vote in the primary.
