(37,136 posts)...who have Trump signs all over their yard. They revel every time he does something stupid. That's what they want: a stupid, unfit jester who mocks the institutions of government and who validates their small minded prejudices.

(24,153 posts)The MAGA cultists will never abandon Trump, but, as we have seen in multiple elections over the past year, 2024 Trump +20 districts are swinging 15-30 points towards Dems.
In some races, a Dem victory was mathematically impossible without republican votes.
As for Republican politicians, we have definitely seen some self-preservation push back against Trump in the past week or so. Will it last? I guess it depends on many factors, including the severity of Trumps threats during the recess, balanced with their knowledge that supporting some of these bills (ballroom, Iran War and slush fund) will doom their reelection chances. Others, who have already announced retirement or have been primaried out are in the Dont GAF Club, and will likely continue their pushback.
So, I expect the pushback will continue, but it was never going to come from all Republicans, as your poll implies.

(20,868 posts)Not understanding that is something I see a lot around here. So yes some have already had enough. Some will have had enough in the future. Some will always be willing to die for him and murder their entire families with a smile on their faces if he asked him to. Thats the spectrum in 2026.

(5,158 posts)the hardcore base, there is probably nothing he could do to lose their vote.
They will starve (they call it fasting apparently) because they can't afford food and still blame the "Libtards".They would quit their churches and go to a trump church if there were such a thing.
